You need to create a food packaging design that will appeal to the target audience of 13-18 year olds. Your design should clearly state what the food item is and engage with aesthetics to market the product to increase sales. The design needs to be professionally finished showing creative typography and a structured layout.

- Weight
- List of ingredients
- Nutritional information
- Business address and website
- Barcode
Step 1:
Choose a food item (must be school appropriate):
Eg. Tea, chocolate, cereal, etc.
Step 2:
Research the type of information included on food packaging for ideas to use on your own. This can include Google image search and going through items in your pantry at home to see how designers have come up with solutions already. It is a good idea to research into the particular food item you have chosen as well!
Find images and then annotate:

- What sort of forms and materials are being used?
- Why? - is it to aid in function, to target a certain audience, etc.
- How are the designers structuring the information so that it makes sense and doesn't look cluttered?

Come up with your own information for your food product design. You can use the information from other packages such as the content for the nutritional information and an image of a barcode.

Choose one of the package form options

Cut out the template and fold together without using any glue or tape.

Brainstorm ideas by drawing thumbnail sketches, be creative with wild, whacky ideas - innovation comes through wild ideas that are then thought through later. This stage will mostly focus on the front of the packaging that will lure the target audience in. Consider details such as the brand name, food item, imagery, fonts, colours, etc. You don't need to include all of the information such as nutritional information, barcode or address yet!

Refine your initial designs. You should have some idea for what your design will look like. This stage is about creating an organised composition. The focus here is making sure you have all of the information required and how you will make it easy for the target audience to read and understand all of the information.

Once you have a final design layout, draw or use digital means to finalise your design.
This step should make your design look like it is ready to go on the shelf!
