Visual Study Assessment Task 30%
12 A3 page with max. 750 words or 5min oral
A Visual Study is an exploration of, and/or experimentation with, one or more styles, ideas, concepts, media, materials, methods, techniques, or technologies. You will base your exploration and/or experimentation on critical analysis of the work of other practitioners, individual research, and the development of visual thinking and/or technical skills. You will present the findings of your Visual Study as well as your conclusions, insights, and personal opinions about aesthetics.
Put simply, you are to use the ideas or techniques of an established artist to get your own message across!
The requirements:
As a guide, for a 10-credit subject a visual diary, folio, website, or display should be between eight and twelve A3 pages (or equivalent) of practical study; a digital recording should be between 3 and 4 minutes. Supporting material should total a maximum of 750 words if written or a maximum of 5 minutes if oral, or the equivalent in multimodal form.
To do well, the ability to compare and contrast works of art or design within a context or from different contexts is important. Proper research skills including referencing are vital!
